Market Close: Munis Firmer After New Bailout Plan
NEW YORK – The municipal market was markedly firmer today, following news of a new bailout plan from the federal government that would see it insure money market mutual funds, purchase the debt of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and take over troubled mortgage assets from financial institutions.

Market Post: Munis Firmer After New Bailout Plan
The municipal market was firmer this morning, following news of a new bailout plan from the federal government that would see it insure money market mutual funds, purchase the debt of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and take over troubled mortgage assets from financial institutions.
Traders said tax-exempt yields were lower by four or five basis points.
