Calif. Close: Munis Firmer in Light Trading

The California municipal market was firmer in light trading today, following Treasuries.
“The market is up a few basis points, but the trading is very light today,” a trader in Los Angeles said. “We’re mostly seeing trading in the short term, by people who had paper redeemed.”

The municipal market was firmer this afternoon, following Treasuries. Traders said the market was up as much as three to five basis points.
“With Treasuries coming back from yesterday’s fade, munis have really caught some traction,” a trader in Chicago said. “Spreads have come in a little bit.”

Market Post: Munis Open Firmer

The municipal market was firmer this morning, along with Treasuries.
“It’s definitely has a firmer tone to it this morning, especially paper with good underlying names and ratings,” a trader in New Jersey said. “We’re working through some of last week’s issues, but it’s still pretty quiet. We usually call it quiet Summer Mondays, but it’s been like that Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, too.”
